ROCKETS!!

This is always a great way to kick off the scouting year. We will shoot model rockets at the JC UMC Soccer Fields from 2-4 PM. We anticipate having 5 rocket launching stations and kids running everywhere having a great time!

The Pack have purchased 100 Standard A/B/C engines and wadding which should be enough for 1-2 launches per scout. All scouts should arrive with an assembled/ready to launch rocket. They can be found at Hobby Lobby, but don’t wait until the day before – they might be sold out. They can also be purchased from Amazon. Feel free to purchase what you want, but the ESTES Athena is a reliable basic option which uses standard engines (listed below and purchased by the Pack) – PLEASE WRITE YOUR SCOUTS NAME ON THE ROCKET WITH A SHARPIE. You’re welcome to bring other rockets, but please pay attention to the engine needed. If your rocket needs mini, multi-stage, or larger engines, you’ll need to bring them. If your scout wants to launch their rocket more than once or twice, please come with more rocket engines for the rocket.

Here are some standard engines you can order as extras.

A3-4 Standard Engines  Pack of 3 engines – A engines will go about 200 feet in the air and you’ll never lose your rocket

B6-4 Standard Engines Pack of 3 engines – B engines will go about 400-500 feet in the air and you my lose a rocket if there’s a strong wind.

C6-5 Standard Engines Pack of 3 engines – C engines will go about 1,000 feet in the air and there is a good chance you’ll not get your rocket back unless you cut holes in the parachute.

For those that want to launch a lot, you can get a combo pack like this with 3 A, 3 B, and 3 C engines

Please have your scout write their name on their rocket. Some rockets will get lost, and some kids will think a rocket is theirs even though someone else brought an identical rocket.
