SUMMARY:Pinewood Derby Race Day
DESCRIPTION:\n\nAnnual Pack Pinewood Derby event.\nRace will be run by den. Scouts will be given a pinewood derby kit between December Pack meeting and mid-January.\nFriday – Check-in from 6-8 PM @ the Chapel at Johns Creek UMC (it’s to the left of the playground on the southside facing Bell Rd\n– If you arrive at 6, we may ask you to help setup the track. Cars cannot be tested on the track until the track is setup.\n– Do not leave the car at the door earlier in the day.\n– We will have hot glue guns, SOME weights (don’t plan on maxing your car to 5.0 oz when you arrive, pack weights are just for last second adjustments – PLEASE ADD WEIGHTS TO YOUR CAR BEFORE ARRIVING AT CHECKIN)\n– All cars must be 5.00 oz or less using the pack scales. If your home scale says 5.0 and ours says 5.04, you’ll need to remove weight from the car.\n– We suggest writing the individuals name and rank on the bottom of the car (scout/parent/siblings name and rank)\n– Once a car is weighed and checked in, only race volunteers will be allowed to touch it.\n– Once cars are checked in, they will be judged for awards\nSaturday – Race Day, 8AM- 1PM.\n– If you arrive early, be respectful of the space where scouts are watching their cars race. If your scout is noisy or disruptive, please take them outside.\n– If a car falls apart on the track (i.e. wheels fall off), we may delay racing so it can be fixed (max 5 minutes). This is not an opportunity to make changes to the car, just to get it functional again.\n– Cars should not be touched by scouts during racing.\n– We will keep the top 3 cars from each den will race in the finals.\n– There will be a parent and siblings between den racing and finals\n– top 3 from each den race in overall grand champion finals. Estimated to be @ 1:15 PM\n– Scouts who do not place in top 3 for the den can take their cars home if they wish.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
