SUMMARY:24/25 Planning Meeting
DESCRIPTION:We will meet 3-5 PM @ 6 Bridges Brewing (11455 Lakefield Dr #300, Johns Creek, GA 30097) to review the following\n\nBudget review per scout\n\nThe Pack is no longer responsible for paying dues directly to BSA for annual registration.\nActive members of the pack must pay pack dues, which will be due prior to January 1\nThe Pack pays for\n\nAdvancement/awards\nBear Carnival\nPinewood Derby\nDen Activity -$20/scout\nPack meeting expenses\nT-shirts $12/scout – we were supposed to charge for adults, but many adults took t-shirts without paying last year\nIT Expenses\nPopcorn Expenses\nRockets\n\n\n\n\nSchool recruiting\n\nWould be good to have parents at meet your teacher days @ MBES and SBCES\nDistrict Executives will do buzzups. Last year SBCE was Aug 29, and MBES was Sept 7.\nWe will host a signup night. I suggest 1 signup night @ JCUMC for both schools. Alternatively, we could have signup nights @ SBCE MBES.\nIf we get a lot of\n\n\nPack Calendar\n\nStick with 1st Monday of the Month (unless holiday, then 2nd Monday of the month) for Pack meetings? Do we want to start in August or Sept?\n\n\n\n\nTry for one additional monthly activity\n\nAugust 17 – pool party, ice cream – Emanuela checking wiht with Sugar Mill. Need a lifeguard, someone to get ice cream fixings\nSeptember – Rockets – need someone to coordinate, need helpers.\nOctober – Camping – need someone to coordinate, need helpers. Oct 4-5 (SBCE Fall Festival, also AAC trailblazer weekend), 11-12 (Spookyree?), or 25-26 (Spookyree)\nNovember – Did nothing last year, could do a hike (Carly)?\nDecember – Holiday Party – Amy Knight – Need to determine a date/location. Suggest FLC @ JCUMC on Dec 2 @ 6:30 PM. Pizza and Bingo\nJanuary –\n\nPinewood Build Day – Emanuela/Waruna\nPinewood Derby – need someone to lead, location/date. Suggest Jan 24/25 @ JCUMC\n\n\nFebruary – Blue and Gold – Need leader, date, and location. Suggest Feb 23 @ FLC @ JCUMC\nMarch – Big Trip – Amy Knight – possibly Space Camp in Huntsville. Amy Knight to share more if possible. Price is $32/person for 6 hours. We would need to organize our own hotels (possibly a group rate @ HGI Space center).  Date? Do we want to do long weekend (FCS long weekend is March 3-4)? If not, Amy would prefer March 8-9 or 22-23.\nApril – Spring camping – April 19-20, 26-27. Need someone to be in charge.\nMay – Pack Graduation – May 5 or 19 (Steve traveling for work May 12)\nLeader training day? Tiff\nOther Pack activities needed for Tiff Woodbage goals?\nMom’s Activity? Hannah\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChanges to Advancement/Scoutbook\n\nThere’s new Advancement – Requirements can be found here: https://www.boyscouttrail.com/24cub-scouts/wolf-scouts.php\nThere’s new Scoutbook (in particular for entering advancement) which is a bit of a mess. All new requirements are in scoutbook.\nPack will purchase 1 copy of den handbook for all leaders. There’s no longer a leader guide. Just follow the handbook.\nSome of the Pack meetings/activities will help scouts complete adventures\n\n\nBig volunteer needs\n\nPeople to help with popcorn – committee, pickup (on August 23/24)\nBlue and Gold Team\nAdvancement Chair\nRocket Day\nCamping\n\n\nStuff to purchase\n\nNeckerchiefs for all scouts\nT-shirts? New or repeat design? Carly\nSupply of adventure awards- hopefully we have someone in charge of advancement to handle this.\n\n\nPopcorn Incentive\n\nLast year, we offered free dues ($240) for scouts that sold $750 in popcorn, then 10% of additional sales provided scout credit to pay for a scouts activities. Now, families will be expected to pay BSA dues themselves (approximately $90 per scout).\nPropose we keep the same incentive, but we cannot reimburse families for dues. It means scouts would get their Pack dues paid get the extra to cover expenses the scout may incur during the year.\nAlternate proposal?\n\n\n\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1C2ACAdmAW8TQnYYZUm98JYr_k5dkkEAGg_HbJnBXP-Y/edit?usp=sharing ( https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C2ACAdmAW8TQnYYZUm98JYr_k5dkkEAGg_HbJnBXP-Y/edit?usp=sharing )\n
